Explain a cron expression in plain English and see when it will actually run next.

Expression

Minute

0–59

Hour

0–23

Day of month

1–31

Month

1–12 or JAN–DEC

Day of week

0–7 or SUN–SAT (0 and 7 are both Sunday)

Upcoming runs

Day of month and day of week are OR. When both are set, the job runs if either matches — so 0 0 1 * 1 fires on the 1st and every Monday, not only on Mondays that fall on the 1st. If one of them is *, only the other applies.

Run times are worked out in this browser’s timezone. On the day a clock shifts for daylight saving, a time inside the skipped hour does not exist; real cron daemons disagree about what to do then, so treat those days as approximate.

How it works

1Type a five-field expression, or start from one of the presets.
2Read the plain-English description and the field-by-field breakdown.
3Check the upcoming run times — that is the fastest way to catch a schedule that does not mean what you thought.
4Remember day-of-month and day-of-week are OR when both are set: "0 0 1 * 1" runs on the 1st AND every Monday.
